Hello everyone! My name is Jessica DiVenere and I have been an aspiring teacher since I was in first grade. I am so excited to finally be working in the classroom, doing what I love, and working with the second grade team! I think we are going to have a great year together, full of laughing and learning together! I cannot wait to see what the year has in store for us. I am looking forward to getting to know each and every one of you, but I will begin by telling you a little about myself.
I was born in New Rochelle, NY but I was raised in Hawthorne, NY. After graduating from High School, I went to Manhattan College and immediately started my courses in Education. I received my Undergrad degree in Elementary Education and my Masters Degree in Special Education with a concentration in Math and Psychology. I could not wait to graduate so I could finally start teaching! This is going to be my first year teaching so I am so excited to grow with my students, and have them learn from me, as well as me learn from them.
I hope to target all types of students and reach out to all of them in effective ways. The reason I wanted to become a teacher is because of my first grade teacher, Mrs. Bartucca. I saw the passion emitted from her face everyday of school and she looked like she enjoyed what she did so much. As a six year old student, I was able to see that and I want to do the same for my students. I think it would be the most fulfilling feeling to have a student come back to me down the road and tell me that I am the reason they are an aspiring teacher, or became a teacher themselves.
The purpose of this website is to have students and parents use it to make learning more student-centered and more effective for them. Students and parents can use this website as a way to get to know me better as well as a tool to help students in what we learned in school. I will upload all assignments on this website; therefore, if a student is absent one day, they can pull up the site and print out what they missed. I will have interactive games included so students and parents can work on the games together and they can practice what we have been learning. The games will reinforce the material presented in class and will be an effective way to measure whether or not students are comprehending the material because they will be able to see how many questions they got right or wrong.
I hope you enjoy this website, and I hope it is helpful to all students and parents. Let's have a great year together!
